The Purpose and Goals of the Viking Folk
Kindred
Our purpose is to practice and preserve the religion of our ancestors known today as
Asatru. We seek to teach and benefit those with a genuine interest in our beliefs, as well as learn from those with experience.
Our goal is to help form and maintain a community where our folk can be at liberty to share their thoughts and beliefs in
Asatru, and have meaningful fellowship through traditional style gatherings and events.
The History of the Viking Folk
Kindred
We
hope to honor our ancestors by holding on to the values and beliefs they so proudly lived and died for. In December of 2005,
William Burns (Ulfhelm) decided to set forth in motion the task of organizing a fellowship community where these traditions
are not only welcomed, but firmly upheld. Finally after three years of meeting with similar groups, attending various
ceremonies and gatherings, speaking with directors of Asatru events, and daily life application of the Troth, Viking Folk
kindred was born.
Our Mission Statement The
Viking Folk Kindred exists for the purpose of practicing, preserving, and promoting the native cultural and spiritual beliefs
of the northern European folk. This practice today is known as Asatru.We do not promote hatred, bigotry, or racism. We
are proud of our culture and our people – we are not supremacists. It is never our desire or intent to offend any person
regardless of their race, culture, or religion. Through our kindred events and activities we honor our ancestors and embrace
our heritage in a positive manner. As members of the Viking Folk Kindred, we claim the faith of the Gods and Goddesses of
Asatru or Norse Heathenry. We believe that in order for our traditions, beliefs, and heritage to be preserved, we must teach
our children and lead by example. Our hearth is open to those who wish to honor the Gods, the Goddesses, the Folk, and follow
the path of Asatru. Hail the Gods!
